FAQ
Therapy can help with a wide range of relationship issues, including communication breakdowns, intimacy challenges, trust issues, recurring conflicts, and life transitions. I also work with individuals on personal issues that impact relationships, such as self-esteem, emotional regulation, and overcoming past experiences.
In our first session, we’ll discuss your concerns, goals, and what brings you to therapy. This is a time to ask questions, share any immediate challenges, and explore what you’d like to achieve. The goal is to create a comfortable space and build a foundation for our work together.
While both types of therapy focus on improving relationships, sex therapy specifically addresses issues related to intimacy, sexual desire, and physical connection. This might involve exploring comfort levels, communication around intimacy, and practical strategies to enhance connection and satisfaction.
The number of sessions varies based on your specific goals and the issues we’re addressing. Some clients benefit from short-term therapy, focusing on specific challenges, while others prefer ongoing support to continue building a stronger, more resilient relationship.

Absolutely. Many couples and individuals seek therapy to proactively strengthen their relationship, address minor issues, or simply gain a deeper understanding of themselves and their partner. Therapy can provide valuable tools to help you maintain a healthy, satisfying relationship over time.
I use a blend of evidence-based methods, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Mindfulness. My approach is always tailored to your unique needs and goals, ensuring that the therapy process aligns with your relationship values and personal growth journey.
Psychotherapy, also known as talk therapy or counseling, is a process where a trained therapist helps individuals, couples, or families explore emotional and psychological issues in a safe, confidential environment. It can help with managing stress, improving relationships, and dealing with mental health issues like depression, anxiety, trauma, or grief.
If we consider the entire population as 100%, over 90% of people are healthy but face daily challenges and issues that affect their sense of satisfaction and happiness. These individuals may be dealing with marital, family, or relationship issues, parenting challenges, adapting to new circumstances, or a variety of other concerns that require specialized counseling and psychotherapy services. Therefore, counseling services address the needs of almost 90% of the population and serve as a preventive measure to stop problems from becoming more complex or leading to serious mental health issues.
Yes, psychotherapy is confidential, meaning that what you discuss with your therapist will not be shared with others without your permission, except in specific situations (e.g., if there’s a risk of harm to yourself or others specially kids). This confidentiality helps build trust between you and your therapist.
Clients seeking counseling are healthy individuals who are dealing with everyday life challenges. They are not considered to be mentally ill.
Counseling and psychotherapy services are not covered by OHIP. However, many insurance companies offer coverage for these services. We recommend checking with your insurance provider to confirm if they cover counseling.
The cost of each counseling session depends on the client’s situation and the session’s duration. Since clients often require multiple sessions, efforts are made to keep costs manageable so that clients can fully benefit from the services.
Counseling is a process that helps individuals find their path to personal growth and empowers them to solve their own problems. The counselor helps clients understand the root causes of their challenges, discover their strengths, and learn how to face and overcome their difficulties. The counselor also supports clients in making better decisions to prevent problems from escalating.
You can request an appointment by phone or email, and we will do our best to schedule you at the earliest available time.
Since the license to provide counseling and psychotherapy services is issued by the Canadian Association for Counseling and Psychotherapy, which is a legal body with an official registration number, clients can request an official receipt for tax purposes.
Any changes or cancellations must be communicated at least 24 hours in advance. If a client does not confirm their appointment after receiving a reminder by text or email, the appointment will be automatically canceled and offered to another client.
While we currently have more availability for online sessions, we are happy to accommodate in-person meetings if that works better for you.
Preparing for therapy can be as simple as reflecting on your current feelings, challenges, or any specific issues you want to address. It can be helpful to write down thoughts or questions you’d like to discuss. Being open and honest with your therapist will help you get the most out of your sessions.
The process begins with calling or sending an email to request an appointment. Once scheduled, you will receive an invoice and an invitation, which will include intake and consent forms. You will need to make your payment and complete all required forms before attending the session.
Attention!
Clients who cancel their appointment without notice or at the last minute will be required to pay for the session. Any cancellations or rescheduling must be made at least 24 hours in advance.
Timely attendance based on prior appointment and immediate departure after the session ends:
Out of respect for your time and the confidentiality and time of subsequent clients, it is important to arrive at the scheduled time and leave immediately after the session ends. This helps prevent delays and overcrowding in the waiting area. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
According to professional standards and the regulations of the College of Registered Psychotherapists, any communication about the content of the sessions or any questions should be addressed during the official counseling sessions. Therefore, please ensure to raise any questions or concerns during your scheduled therapy session.
Therapy can be very effective, but it requires commitment and active participation from both you and the therapist. Success in therapy often depends on the therapeutic relationship, the goals you set, and your willingness to work through difficult emotions and behaviors. It’s normal to experience some discomfort during the process, but many people find that the benefits outweigh the challenges.
The duration of therapy depends on the individual’s goals, the issues they are facing, and the type of therapy being used. Some people may see improvement in just a few sessions, while others may require long-term therapy. Typically, therapy sessions last 50 minutes, and the frequency can vary from once a week to less frequently, depending on your needs.
